ACOUSTIC AQUARIUM (unbuilt)
The small aquarium is at the tip of a man-made land that juts out like a peninsula into the bay. The interior spatial configuration was designed to create a sound field conducive to the generation of flutter echoes. The distinctive sounds generated by random drops of water dripping in a device installed inside the tank fill the observation room. An observation deck facing the sea is provided outside the aquarium, and a parabolic sound collector on the exterior wall amplifies the sounds of waves. In this facility, sounds determine the architectural form. This building can be likened to a huge musical instrument.
