Z-HOUSE
The house, in a hilly suburb of Tokyo, is for a family that runs a construction company specializing in mechanical systems. A couple and a mother will be the occupants. The three-level house is organized to take advantage of a sloping site and is accessed from the middle level. That floor, which includes the kitchen and an open bathroom, resembles the earthen-floored work space in a traditional Japanese farmhouse. A room for the couple is on the top floor, and the mother's room is on the bottom floor. A large radiant heat panel through which cool water and hot water flow is installed in the middle of the house.
