20K APARTMENTS
The building is arranged as close as possible to the southern site boundary, and a reasonably large area of open land was created by taking the legally required yard space in front of the windows and effective daylighting area from the north side. To the south are high-ceilinged maisonette-types facing this open land, and flat-types have been established to the north. The maisonettes have a spatial organization that also allows the lower level to be used as a public workspace and the upper level as a place for daily life. In the one-room flat types, it is possible for pairs of rooms separated by thick walls to be joined by a connecting door; one side may be used as a workspace, or two independent people may share aspects of their daily life. These spaces assume lifestyles involving such new human relationships.
