GALA HOUSE
The site is in a verdant residential area with a calm atmosphere. With a depth that much greater than its frontage, it is surrounded by the houses in the adjoining sites on three sides, and a green tract of land by the front road. Inside the main structure, a structural frame comprising small-diameter posts and beams has been adopted. Outside the main structure, and not included in the legally permitted surface area, there are overhangs extended to the limits, below which are buffer areas like open verandahs. By means of these buffer areas, one is aware of the expansive continuous space that unifies the interior spaces with the marginal spaces produced between this house and the adjacent sites. Because the owners desired the image of an incomplete house that required their own participation, as much as possible it was left in an unfinished, utilitarian state.
